Sustainability Training for SGX-listed entity directors commences

SGX has announced eight sustainability training courses that directors of listed entities may can attend to obtain basic knowledge on sustainability matters.

Directors are required to attend one of the courses to meet SGX’s enhanced sustainability reporting rules which mandate sustainability training for all directors of issuers with equity listed on the SGX. SGX-listed entities will need to confirm that their directors have attended sustainability training, in their first sustainability report for financial years commencing on or after 1 January 2022 and which is issued in 2023 or later.

The training courses are conducted by Global Compact Network Singapore (GCNS), PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and Singapore Environment Council (SEC), each in partnership with Enterprise Singapore, Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA) with SAC Capital, REIT Association of Singapore (REITAS), Singapore Institute of Directors (SID) and University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL) with Earth on Board (EoB).

The courses are of different durations and conducted virtually or in-person.  Additionally, first-time board directors of listed entities can meet the requirement for sustainability training by attending from the Listed Entity Directors’ programme at SID from May 2022.
